Josh Hirstwood has officially joined Hirstwood Training, stepping into a role that has been years in the making. Having grown up around the work, the conversations and the training world that shaped Hirstwood Training, Josh has spent a long time watching, listening and learning — and he’s very clear that the learning is still ongoing.

Josh is passionate about continuing the Hirstwood Training’s legacy while also helping it grow and evolve. He is involved in developing online courses, supporting live online training, conferences and festivals, and helping to make sure that high-quality training remains accessible to practitioners working in special education.

A key part of Josh’s role is working alongside Hirstwood Training’s tutors and associates, supporting them to share their knowledge, experience and practical strategies in ways that benefit as many people as possible. He is committed to helping preserve and extend this collective expertise, ensuring it continues to support schools, services and practitioners now and in the future.

Josh’s focus is on collaboration, learning from experienced professionals, and helping Hirstwood Training remain practical, relevant and rooted in real practice. He shares the core belief that sits at the heart of Hirstwood Training: that thoughtful, sensory-informed approaches can make a genuine difference, and that breaking down barriers to learning in special education is an ongoing, shared responsibility.
